Arasaka Academy Beginners Guide: Origins, Cyberware And Rerolls

Arasaka Academy is a Roblox cyberpunk RPG where you create a student, reroll cyberware and a fighting style, then work through Night City. Pick one of four Origins, claim the free Rerolls before spending any, and learn the three keys that decide fights: T for stance, Tab for scanner, Z/X/C for cyberware.

The controls that actually matter

There is no in-game tutorial walking you through the bindings, but the developer lists every one of them in the Roblox description. Copy this list into a note, because half of these get forgotten within a day of playing.

Key Action
P Open phone
T Toggle fighting stance
G Open emotes
Q Dash
Shift Sprint
M Open menu
Tab Use scanner
B Grip
Z / X / C Use equipped cyberware
Alt Shiftlock

Of these, four carry most of the early game. Sprint on Shift is how you cross map without losing a fight you should have avoided. Dash on Q is your disengage. Stance on T changes your fighting style. Scanner on Tab is the read-the-room button the game gives you, and it is the one most players skip.

Hit Alt before anything else

Press Alt once at the start of a session to turn Shiftlock off. With Shiftlock on, holding Shift and turning locks your character into a strafe, which makes fights feel broken for reasons that have nothing to do with your build.

Your first three minutes

Character creation runs in a fixed order: you type a first name, pick a gender, choose an Origin, then press Play. That is the whole screen, and it happens before you control anything.

Two customisation categories have been shown publicly in the developer preview: body type and eye colour. The same preview describes Rerolls as covering cyberware and cyberware capacity, which lines up with what the codes actually pay out.

Do not overthink the name. Origins are the only decision on this screen with any reported consequence, and even that consequence is a starting contact rather than a stat block.

Pick an Origin before you spend anything

Four Origins are available at creation, and each one is tied to a different starting contact. Pro Game Guides reported the mapping on October 3, and no tested evidence has shown any of them changing your numbers.

Origin Starting contact reported
Corpo Institutional Access
Street Kid City Contacts
Nomad Outskirts Network
Gang Criminal Contacts

None of these has been shown to give bonus stats, faster progression or exclusive zones. Pick the fantasy you want to roleplay. Our Origins tier list goes through all four and explains why a best answer here is thinner than it looks.

Rerolls do not change your Origin

Nothing published so far shows a way to reroll or switch Origin after character creation. Treat the pick as permanent and spend nothing until you have read the four descriptions your own creation screen actually shows.

Rerolls: what they change and how to spend them

Rerolls are the game's only real progression currency, and they are generous at launch. The seven live codes pay out 575 Rerolls in total, and every one of them is free.

Each Reroll rerolls four separate things: your appearance, your cyberware, your fighting style, and your accessories. That last part is the trap. Because accessories roll on the same ticket as cyberware, a player chasing one specific cyberware piece is gambling the whole roll pool against accessory RNG they do not even care about.

Spend in this order instead:

  1. Lock the fighting style first. Style sets your whole combat approach, and it is the roll you will notice every single fight.
  2. Then chase cyberware. Z, X and C are bound to whatever is equipped, so better pieces pay off on every key you press.
  3. Leave appearance and accessories last. They decide how your character looks, not how they fight.

Claim every code before you roll anything. The redemption path is in the Arasaka Academy codes list, and the whole batch takes under a minute.

Stance, scanner and grip

T toggles your fighting stance. This is a switch between fighting styles rather than a buff, and it is why a rerolled style matters more than a rerolled accessory.

Tab runs the scanner. Because the game leans on hacking and cyberware rather than pure melee, scanning before you commit to a fight is the closest thing to a read-the-room button it gives you. It costs you nothing to look first.

B is Grip. Grip is separate from stance, so treat them as two different dials rather than assuming switching stance also changes your hold.

Scan, then stance, then swing

The habit that survives contact with other players is Tab before every engagement, T to confirm you are on the style you meant to be on, then commit. Skipping the scan is how you end up fighting an enemy built to counter you.

What to do when you get stuck

New accounts usually stall in three places, and none of them are progression walls.

The server feels empty. This is a small game with a loud launch spike. If the lobby is dead, check the Ordinance Games group for activity before assuming you have fallen behind.

Your rerolls feel wasted. Almost always because you rolled them before redeeming codes. Fix that first; free Rerolls change how many attempts a good roll deserves.

You cannot find progression. Open the M menu and the P-Phone before you fight anyone. In games this young the real systems usually sit one layer under the main screen rather than announcing themselves.

The developer runs a public Trello board and an official Discord, and both are where balance changes land before anyone writes them down.

FAQ

What keys do I press in Arasaka Academy?

The developer lists ten bindings in the game description: P phone, T fighting stance, G emotes, Q dash, Shift sprint, M menu, Tab scanner, B grip, Z/X/C cyberware usage, and Alt shiftlock. Those come straight from the official listing, not from a community guide.

Does Tab really scan before combat?

The description says Tab uses the scanner. What the scan actually returns in practice is not documented publicly, but pressing it costs nothing, so scanning before an engagement is free information.

Should I reroll my character immediately?

No. Claim all seven codes for 575 free Rerolls first, then roll. Rolling early is the most common way new players burn a pool too small to fix their fighting style.

Can I change my Origin later?

Nothing published so far shows a way to reroll or switch Origin. Pick based on the starting contact you want rather than on a tier ranking, because no Origin has been shown to change your stats.

Is Arasaka Academy free?

The Roblox listing carries no price for the experience. You do need to join the Ordinance Games group and like the game before the code menu will accept anything.
